30 Under 30: Meet the young women giving us hope
November 2025 updates from The Young Women's Movement.
Welcome to our November newsletter, and our very first one on Substack! We hope October has been kind to you.
We’ll start with a thank you – this month, you helped raise £3,930 for The Young Women’s Movement as part of our Big Give campaign. The funding landscape in the women’s sector is tough right now, and every penny counts.
So whether you reshared our posts, tested your trivia, or did a sponsored swim in a freezing sea or loch – thank you.
Let’s dive in.
Meet the 2025 class of changemakers
When the world feels like it’s on fire, it’s important to remember all the good work that’s being done on our doorsteps.
Every year, 30 Under 30 celebrates young women and girls from across Scotland who are making positive change in different ways. 2025 marks ten years of celebrating the list, and we doubt we’ll ever run out of inspiring young women to celebrate.
This year, our list includes:
A 19 year old CEO
A co-founder of the Back Off Scotland campaign
The youngest editor of a UK newspaper
Community organisers across Scotland
Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament
Meet our 30 Under 30 list of 2025!
Resource: How to address violence between girls

Enable 3rd party cookies or use another browser
Violence between women and girls is very different from violence against them. We worked with a group of young women aged 14–18 to develop a resource for practitioners earlier this year.
The Girl Power toolkit includes:
How to begin and facilitate conversations with young women and girls about violence between girls.
What young women and girls want practitioners to understand about their experiences with violence between girls in the online world
Short icebreakers and longer activities to build trust, promote safe and healthy discussions, and support disclosures surrounding violence between girls.
We want to hear from you!
We’re working on the training we provide – but first, we want to understand what training the sector needs.
The more views we have, the more useful our training will be, so grab your preferred beverage and snack and share your thoughts with us in our 2-minute survey!
On this month:
Friendship, Resistance and Poetry
Monday 17th November, 6–7.30pm at Glasgow Women’s Library
Join award-winning writer Nadine Aisha Jassat for an engaging creative writing workshop as part of Book Week Scotland. We’ll be exploring this year’s theme of friendship, and thinking about how we’d reimagine Scotland for young women and girls – the Scotland we’d like to live in, and the communities and friendships that are intrinsic to social change.
This workshop is open to experienced writers and those completely new to creative writing alike. Come along and have fun in a warm and welcoming environment trying out creative writing prompts inspired by friendship.
This event is designed for 16–30 year old young women (including trans women) and non-binary people who feel comfortable in a space that centres the experience of young women. Reasonable expenses supporting your attendance (such as travel) will be covered, and food will be provided. Find out more and sign up!
